Grand Palace - Bangkok

We are back from Thailand with little fat Buddah bellies from stuffing our faces with crazy/delcious/weird Thai food for two weeks. We took about 1,000 pictures and 40 videos - so much more to come. This is at the Grand Palace in Bangkok which was constructed in 1782 by Rama I. The day we visited, the King's son visited to change the Buddah's costume from rainy to winter (read: "winter" is 90 degrees).

Fall in Lawrence, KS

Taken on 10-10-10 from a moving car with my iPhone and it's still magnificent; happy fall.

Is this a maple tree? I'm not sure, but if I lived in Lawrence I'd buy a house with a big old tree like this one. And also I'd buy a leaf blower...

Typographic Maps - Cartography. Visualization. Design.

Courtney (aka CB0E.) sent me these typetastic maps from Axis Maps. Go to the blog to see more cities beyond Chicago;  they aren't even crazy-expensive like you (I did) might assume.
mapping / art project Typographic Maps. Created as a labor of love, these unique maps accurately depict the streets and highways, parks, neighborhoods, coastlines, and physical features of the city using nothing but type. Only by manually weaving together thousands upon thousands of carefully placed words does the full picture of the city emerge. Every single piece of type was manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete for each map. Take a look at our blog for more on how these maps were made.
We offer high quality poster-sized prints for $30, or a variety of other size and media options.
